dear Dr Woolls, was first brought under my notice by Mr F. M. Bailey and so I named it at once after him informing him to that effect. I placed it under that name before the Royal Society here some weeks ago with a description exhibiting with notes a few other new plants, so that the whole will appear still in the volume of our R. S. here for 1887.

Acacia baileyana, exhibited with a description at the meeting of the Royal Society of Victoria held on 15 December 1887 (see B88.07.03).

Two collections received from Woolls in October 1887 and December 1887 are in MEL.
I received also independently others from Wagga Wagga collected by Mr Garland there.

Mr Bailey's came probably from that part of New England

nearest Queensland; but he is not sure about the locality or the origin of the tree, cultivated at Brisbane. The specimens from all localities together have afforded sufficient material for well illustrating the A. Baileyana for the 11th Decade of the Acacias.

Woolls's friend John Dawson, amongst whose papers the present MS is now located. A collection of bark and seed only by Dawson, without locality, is in MEL.
