H. Moors Esqr
Acting Undersecretary.
Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday,
informing me, that by an order in Council my services as Gov. Botanist will be continued
til the 30 June next; and I beg now to convey to our honorable Minister and through
him to his Excellency and the other Ministers my best thanks for the additional concession
made, with an expression of hope, that also in the new finance-year I may be allowed,
to proceed in an unimpaired position with conducting the administration of the Department,
to the establishing of which I have devoted all the best energies of my life, and
to which I would so much wish to devote all my attention, so long as my strength and
mental faculties last.
