Not all specimens listed are now present at MEL. All of those numbered 2-36 inclusive that were retained are dated to the year 1888; the remainder are dated 1887. However, Garland re-used numbers, presumably in different consignments; for example, there are three collections at MEL with his number 1, however the one from Wagga was collected in 1887. The list is therefore dated to 1888 as the earliest that M could have responded. Many of the specimens are recorded in AVH under redetermined names or synonyms of the names given here.

MS annotation by M: 'Betw Murrumbidgee & Lachlan R'. Garland had left many gaps in his list; it appears that someone else added their thoughts before the list was sent to M, who then completed the identifications. Parts written by M are in in bold.
