Tarawera cleared out of Melbourne for New Zealand on 13 December 1887; see Argus, 14 December 1887, p. 6.
The delay has arisen through our exceptionally wet season, which prevented the collectors from getting their seeds dry. As good seed of Euc. marginata was not obtainable I have substituted E. obliqua, as you suggested, adding also some E. melliodora, which supplies an excellent timber.
