Melbourne,
17/11/87
T. R. Wilson Esqr
Undersecretary.
Sir
In reference to a question, asked last evening in Parliament,
1
The file contains the following extract taken from the Parliamentary debates: 'Mr. Graham: To ask the Honorable the Minister of Agriculture if he will cause a bound copy of the Vegetable Products Commissioners' Report, together with a copy of Baron von Mueller's book on "Select Tropical Plants," to be supplied to the various mechanics institutes and free libraries in the colony.' On 17 November the question was placed on the Notice Paper to be answered on 22 November (Legislative Assembly, Notices of Motion and Orders of the Day, session 1887, p. 356). The Minister answered that ‘steps had already been taken to circulate the Vegetable Products Report, and he had also received from the South Australian Government sufficient copies of the Forest Report; but Baron von Mueller’s work was out of print; but he would see the Treasurer as to the cost of reproducing it’. (Ballarat star, 23 November 1887, p. 4). The SA Forest report has not been unambiguously identified, but it is most likely to be the recently issued Forest Conservator’s annual progress report on the administration of the State Forests for 1887, SA Parliamentary Paper 1887, no. 31, see ‘State forest administration in South Australia,’ Kapunda herald, 18 November 1887.
I beg to remark, that as soon as the "Key I"

is through the press, likely in a few weeks, the printing of the new Edition of the "Select plants"

will be commenced, for which lately through the Parliamentary vote the means have become available.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant
