the early issue of which is demanded from me, dear Mr Cheeseman, I am much harrassed just now, the daily routine-work in so large a place as Melbourne taking up always so much time, that I make but slow progress with the new book. Until January I shall not be free to aid you much, but I may here observe at once, that the Canavallia fruit, sent by you, is undoubtedly that of C. obtusifolia, from which C Baueriana is not specifically distinct
The true has cordate leaves; your specimens are not in fruit, so the determination will be difficult
Your Palm is a true . I will compare it carefully with B. Baueri I do not admit the genus

E. littoralis?
are species endemic to Norfolk-Island or to islets close bye; but I regard as a var of E. australe while ( ) is — so far as known — restricted to Norfolk-Islands & New Caledonia, and is not specifically distinct from A. auritum.
