Telegram not found. The text given here is from 'The success of Cuthbertson's expedition', Sydney morning herald, 3 October 1887, p. 8. It is appended to the text of a telegram dated 30 September 1887, from Walter Cuthbertson to the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia. The telegram from Lawes was almost certainly sent on the same day. The text of the telegram is introduced by 'the Rev. W. G. Lawes, of New Guinea, telegraphed as follows to Baron Von Mueller:—'.
