Melbourne,
28 Sept. 1887.
The honorable Alfred Deakin, M.L.A.,
Chief Secretary
&c &c
Sir.
I have the honor to solicit your favorable consideration of the byefollowing application, submitted by Mr T. Minchin, junior Assistant in the botanic Museum, for the usual annual furlough.
1
See J. Minchin to M, 28 March 1887.
Though he was absent through illness and other causes for a few days during the year, I would recommend, that the full three weeks leave be allowed him, as he will devote the whole time in the interest of the Department to a botanical collecting tour in the Murray-River region.
2
M's request was approved on 30 September and he promptly returned the file 'with best thanks'. See also M to A. Deakin, 17 October 1887 (in this edition as 87-10-17c).
I have the honor to be, Sir,
your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller.
