The letter was sent to T. Wilson by H. Gomm, Secretary to the Public Service Board,
on 26 August. Wilson forwarded it at an illegible date 'for the information and guidance
of The Government Botanist'.

Sir,
I am directed to inform you that the Board has laid down the principle in regard to
payments to officers for overtime work that such payments shall be calculated on the
basis of per cent per hour on the Annual Salary of the Officer making the claim. It
is requested that in future all Accounts for overtime may be made out accordingly
and that the following scale may be observed when a salary does not amount to an even
hundred pounds — viz.
