für die Algologie Australiens wieder geleistet haben. Es muss ja auch Ihnen eine grosse Freude sein, mehr und mehr Ihren und Ihres verehrten und unvergesslichen Vaters Namen, den ich seit 1840 nach eignem Sammeln auf die Algenpapiere von Arten der Nord-See und Ost-See selbst schrieb, — verknüpft zu sehen mit der Meer-Flora Australiens. Es ist mir eine unendliche Freude, dass Sie meine Codia auch wieder herstellten, und der Nestor Kützing, der mir noch immer Desmidien benennt und dem wir gewiss alle ein Chevreuls-Alter wünschen, wird auch dadurch eine wohl verdiente Freude gebracht. Das Leben hat ja so viel Sorgen- und Trauer-volles, dass es Jedem lieb sein muss, zur Freude Anderer beizutragen.

In diesem Frühling fahren auf mein Anregen mehrere Mitglieder des "Field Naturalists Club" dessen Patron ich bin, nach der King's Island, so dass auch algologische Beiträge von daher in Aussicht stehen. Sie ehrend

which I myself wrote on the algae paper of species of the North Sea and Baltic from my own collection since 1840, connected with the marine flora of Australia. It is an infinite pleasure to me that you have also restored my Codia again,

and the nestor Kützing, who still names desmids for me and for whom we certainly all wish an age of Chevreul,

Kützing did not achieve the 103 years of Chevreul, but he did live to the age of 86.

is also brought a well-deserved pleasure because of this. Life does have so many cares and sorrows that everyone must be glad to contribute to the pleasure of others.

In this spring several members of the "Field Naturalists Club", whose Patron I am, will travel at my instigation to King Island so that contributions of algae are also expected from there.
