Melbourne,
25 May 1887.
T. R. Wilson Esqr,
Undersecretary,
Sir.
I have the honor to solicit, that the hon. the Acting Chief Secretary will be pleased,
to consider, while now the estimates are anew under consideration, that as pointed
out in my letter of the 22 Oct. 1886,
the sum of £190.- .- may be placed on the additional estimates for a new edition of the volume on "select
plants for industrial culture and naturalisation".

M to T. Wilson, 22 October 1886.

The previous edition was B85.12.03; the next was B88.12.01. No sum was added to the
Additional Estimates, but the new edition became possible as a result of the estimates
for 1888-9 having been approved, see M to T. Wilson, 17 November 1887.
As the sale of the whole edition (minus some donation copies) within seven months
realized a larger sum at the Gov. Printing Office for the consolidated revenue, than
the cost of printing it may be anticipated, that the new (and further enlarged) edition will cover by its sale also again the expenditure of issue. numerous applications
to purchase this work for information on rural cultures are made; yet not a single
copy is any longer obtainable for months.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your obedient
Ferd. von Mueller.
