Dear Baron Mueller,
I have written to the station-holders in the far north west named in the enclosed list requesting their kind offices on behalf of Mr Bauerlen should he visit them in the course of his journeyings.

On 13 May Maiden wrote to the persons named in the enclosure, outlining the purpose of Baurelen's collecting trip to 'the angle of this colony near the South Australian and Queensland borders [that] has never yet been visited by a botanist', requesting that 'if Mr Bauerlen's journeyings should cause him to pass your station would you kindly exercise your good offices on his behalf, assisting him when en route to or in the direction of the counties of Grey, Evelyn & Poole by conveyance of him & his specimens. Mr Eccleston Du Faur has furnished me with your name as likely (should there be any necessity for it) to assist in this this truly national undertaking' (MRS 4/4/340-1 outward letters, Archives of Powerhouse Museum, Sydney).
