Dear Baron Mueller,
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 6th instant.

See M to J. Maiden, 6 May 1887.
I have applied to the Minister of Public Instruction for a free pass for Mr Bauerlen
as far as Bourke and back, and available from the middle of July to the end of October.
As to writing letters to squatters and others on behalf of Mr Bauerlen, I would gladly
write them if I knew to whom to write. I am making enquiries, but have not heard as
yet.

Maiden sought advice on the names of squatters and others who would help with transport
and food, see J. Maiden to E. Du Faur, 11 May 1887, in this edition as M87-05-11. A list of people contacted is given in J. Maiden to M, 13 May 1887.
I enclose copy of a letter I sent to Mr Bauerlen for his southern trip, probably a
similar one from you, and one from me, would help him in the north west.

J. H. Maiden.
