Ich möchte Sie bitten, lieber Herr Holtze, mir mitzutheilen, ob der "Water-Pandanus" bei Ihnen auch vorkommt. Ich meine die kleine Art, mit schlankem Stamme und nicht unter einander zusammen-gewachsenen Nüssen, obwohl solche auch einen Kopf bilden.

In der Verschiffung meiner Sammlungen vom Victoria-Flusse nach Sydney im Jahr 1856 gingen die Exemplare verloren, so dass diese merkwürdige Pflanze in meinem Herbarium hier jetzt gar nicht vertreten ist. Variirt die gewöhnliche Art bei Ihnen in der Grösse der Frucht? (P. odoratissimus). Können Sie ermitteln von den Dampfschiffs Leuten, wie weit südlich an der Westküste u vorkommen.

While shipping my collections from the Victoria River

to Sydney in 1856 the specimens were lost, so that this strange plant is now not represented at all in my herbarium.

Part of M's collections from the North Australian Exploring Expedition, 1855-6, were damaged en route to Sydney on board Messenger. See M to A. Gregory, 6 April 1857.

Does the common species vary in the size of the fruit with you? (P. odoratissimus). Can you find out from the steamship people, how far south on the west coast and occur?
