Note found with specimen of Acacia baileyana. The note is dated on the basis of its evident connection with the items cited in n. 3.
This is a form of A. polybotrya which came up amongst seed collected by me many years ago on or near Seaview Range and 60 miles from Cardwell

After initially accepting Bailey's identification of the species, M had second thoughts and decided it was a new species that he described in B88.07.03 as A, baileyana; see M to Bailey, 22 November 1887 and M to W. Thiselton-Dyer, 9 April 1888. The specimen sheet includes M's herbarium label: 'Acacia Baileyana F.v.M. | Cultiv. In Bowen's Park Brisbane. | F. M. Bailey'.
