Es wird Sie wundern, lieber Herr Tepper, dass sich Ihre Hydrocotyle N. 96 als identisch mit H. diantha , D.C. erweist, eine Art die bisher noch nicht ausserhalb Westaustralien gefunden wurde. Ist sie von eine Stelle, wo früher etwa die von W.A. kommenden Dampschiffe anlegten?

141 ist eine mir ganz neue . Haben Sie an Ihren Ex. noch Blüthen Reste? Dann könnte ich der Pflanze wohl die genau richtige Stellung (wohl in der Section ) geben, u sie nach einem Ihrer Freunde nennen. Wem? Wird die Frucht saftig? Ist der Stamm niederliegend oder aufrecht. Vielleicht schickt Ihnen ein Correspondant mehr davon.

Mit finde ich gemischt (N. 126) eine ganz kleine Pflanze mit demselben schmächtigen Wuchs, aber linealen Blättern u kleinen sitzenden einzelnen Blüthenknospen. Sie haben auch vielleicht dies Pflänzchen zwischen Cand. despecta; es ist auch kenntlich an den vaginirenden oder cylindrischen Blattstielen.

Vielleicht haben Sie einen Freund in Karatta, der nach diesem kleinen Pflänzchen (1-1½ Zoll hoch kahl u ungeästet) weiter suchen würde, so dass Frucht , wenn auch noch so klein, erlangt würde. Mir ist das Dinglein ganz räthselhaft.

Haben Sie gute Ex. von Juncus 166? mit Samen .

Ich bin überzeugt wenn die feuchten Wiesen an den K. I. Flussufern noch weiter durchforscht würden nach kleinen Annuellen, dass sich noch mehr Neues erlangen liesse.

You will be surprised, dear Mr Tepper, that your Hydrocotyle no. 96 proves to be identical with H. diantha D.C., a species that hitherto has not yet been found outside Western Australia. Is it from a place where previously perhaps steamships coming from W.A. berthed?

141 is a quite new to me. Have you remains of flowers still on your specimens? Then I could probably give the proper place of the plant (probably in the Section ), and name it after one of your friends. Whom? Does the fruit become juicy, is the stem prostrate or upright? Perhaps a correspondent will send you more of it.

I find a quite small plant mixed with (no. 126) with the same slender growth, but lineal leaves and small solitary sessile flower buds. Perhaps you also have this little plant among Cand. despecta; it is also recognisable by the vaginant or cylindrical leaf stalk.

Perhaps you have a friend in Karatta,

who would look further for this little plant (1-1½ inches high, glabrous and unbranched), so that fruit , even if still so small, would be obtained. The little thing is quite puzzling to me.

Have you good specimens of Juncus 166? with seeds .

The Glenelg river briefly enters South Australia before it discharges to the sea near Nelson, Vic.
