upon an Australian caterpillar',
Gardeners' chronicle,

The article, by Worthington Smith, discusses the history of the discovery of the species
and considers its structure and its relationship to other vegetable caterpillars.
Smith wrote 'Baron von Mueller's example of Cordyceps Taylori was unfortunately not
perfectly mature, but it was sufficiently mature to enable me to give an illustration
(possibly for the first time) of the microscopic fruit, which is perhaps the most
wonderful part of the fungus'.
At about the same time, M sent another specimen to California; see M to H. Harkness,
January 1887 (in this edition as 87-01-00e).
