Letter not found. The text given here is from 'New cure for blight', a letter to the editor from William Woolls, Sydney morning herald, 25 December 1886, p. 8, reporting on a successful experimental treatment by Dr. L. C. Jockel of a patient with purulent ophthalmia using an infusion of minuta. Woolls's letter was reprinted in Maiden (1889a), p. 387, and in Sydney mail and New South Wales advertiser, 17 September 1892, p. 628.
[I find from a communication of Baron Mueller, that for some time past he has had an idea that might be used for medicinal purposes, and that he had actually submitted it to Dr. Springthorpe, an eminent physician in Melbourne, for purposes of experiment. The Baron however was not aware of its efficacy in simple ophthalmic inflammation, and he regarded the discovery as interesting.]
