Edgar's letter to the newspaper began by summarizing the description of the grass as 'a rather succulent, very fattening grass', quoting M's
Select-extra tropical plants, apparently from the most recent edition, B85.12.03. it also slightly paraphrases the description of its phenomenal growth in Fiji given there, and concludes by saying that 'a few plants will be supplied to applicants at the Gardens'.
