Da in Ihren Royal Society, geehrten Herr Tepper, wieder eine Liste der für S.A. neuen Pflanzen geliefert werden soll, möchte ich Sie ersuchen, da Sie doch wohl mit dem Secretair in regelmässigem Verkehr sind, ihn zu veranlassen, dass Actinotus Schwarzii als eine neue Art mit aufgenommen werde, zumal da diese auch ein neues genus für S.A. giebt.

Der Missionär Schwarz entdeckt diese höchst seltne u eigenthümliche Pflanze am Mt Sonder. Ich habe bisher nur ein abgeblühtes Ex. von dem ich Ihnen ein Bruchstück sende, das Sie wohl in der nächsten Versamml. d. R.S. vorlegen könnten. Das Genus ist unverkennbar. Ich würde dieses Fragment Prof Tate gesandt haben, aber ich bin nicht gewiss, ob er sich viel bei den Arbeiten d. R.S. betheiligt eben jetzt.

Es wäre zu bedauern, wenn die Caladenia voreilig beschrieben u veröffentlicht werde als neu, da wahrscheinlich sich solche nur Form von C. Cairnsiana erweisen wird, wenn reichlich Material für vergleichende Untersuchung vorliegt.

Since in your Royal Society, esteemed Mr Tepper, a list of new plants for South Australia is to be produced again, I would like to ask you, since you are probably in regular communication with the secretary, to have him arrange that is accepted as a new species as well, especially since this also gives a new genus for South Australia.

was included, as M requested, in the published version of his list of additions to the flora of SA that had been presented to the Royal Society of SA at its meeting on 7 September 1886; see B87.03.03, p. 57. M subsequently described the species in B88.08.03, when better specimens became available.

The missionary Schwarz discovered this highly rare and peculiar plant on Mt Sonder.

I have hitherto only a faded specimen from which I send you a fragment that you could probably show at the next meeting of the Royal Society. The genus is unmistakable. I would have sent this fragment to Professor Tate, but I am not certain whether he takes much part in the work of the Royal Society just now.

It would be regretted if the Caladenia

is hastily described and published as new since probably it will turn out to be only a form of C. cairnsiana, when abundant material is available for comparative investigation.
