Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Antarctic Exploration', Sydney morning herald, 2 September 1886, p. 12. The letter follows immediately after the text of M to R. Armstrong, 27 August 1886 (in this edition as 86-08-27b). It is introduced by 'Captain Armstrong replied as follows:—'.
29th August, 1886.
My dear Baron von Mueller,-
Your very complimentary and thoughtful letter reached me today.
Touching the suggestions shadowed forth in your note, many of them are doubtless peculiarly applicable to the circumstances of the islands you mention; but, in addition, it occurs to me to enumerate a few matters I should deem very urgent. I have obtained to-day a copy of the proceedings of the Geographical Society with your address, and I will now be able to master the details of your proposals, and in a day or two write you fully my views on the subject.
Yours, &c,
Richard R. Armstrong.
