I was pleasingly surprised, dear Mr Moore, to receive your kind letter of the 12th,

announcing your kind sending of plants of the two rare s, and specimens of a small Eucryphia. Doubtless these will come by next mail, as they did not arrive simultaneously with the letter. The Eucryphia will likely prove to be E. milligani,

E. milliganii?
of which you could see at your R.S.

in Hooker's fl. Tasman. t. 8 an illustration; it seems only a variety of E. Billardierii.

E. billardierei?
As you take an interest in the native plants, allow me to mention, that from the West coast of Tasmania hardly any seaweeds (Algs) are hitherto known; they may differ partially from those of other portions of your coast.
Among aquatic (fresh water) floating weeds may also yet be many a rarity to be discovered in your island.
The vegetation of Kings Island is also as yet very little examined.
Mt Munro on Cape Barren Island, being 2300 feet high, ought to yield also yet something of bot interest.
I merely mention this, as occasion may arise to colleagues or friends of yours, to visit any of these places, and as they might wish to extend our knowledge of the Tasmanian Flora.
With regardful remembrance
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
Best compliments to Mr Sprent.
