Last night, dear Mr Macdonald, I received the byefollowing telegram, which I copied partly for the press,

Telegram not found. See Argus, 11 June 1886, p. 5: 'yesterday Baron von Mueller received a message from Mr. [H. O.] Forbes, stating that, as there is no prospect of the necessary funds [for a further expedition to New Guinea] being contributed during the present season, he has accepted an appointment under the Queensland Government'.
