MS found with a specimen of Tinospora smilacina (MEL 1563086), marked by M: 'coll. Miss C. Lamont, Springsure, 1886'. (Lamont's letter 'E' could easily be mistaken for 'C', as M has evidently done.) MS annotation by M: 'Answ 4/6/86'. Letter not found.

Dear Sir
By this mail I forward to you a botanical specimen, which you may not have seen. I have marked the parcel thus X, that you may know it.
The specimen is a creeper, which sends numberless fine roots from various parts of its branches down towards the ground from any height. A detached piece hung up against a wall will at once send forth roots in search of nourishment. I have never seen it in flower so can give you no information concerning it
