Am very glad, dear Mr Barbey, that you are supplementing the great work of the never
to be forgotten M. Boissier.
Had he lived I would have sent him my only specimen of the
, as it would have highly interested him, that being the only large carnulent
species (of the section Euphorbium) indigenous to Australia. Do you care to interchange
occasionally a few hundred dried plant with me, Mr Tate's parcel-office affords for
this here now cheap facilities.

Would it be worthy of your consideration, to elaborate a statistic of the Flora Orientalis
for easy glance over the distribution as I have done in my Census of Australian plants?
I am endeavouring, to get Regel or Maximowicz to do something similar for the Russian
Flora, — and Hance for the Chinese Flora. Such tabulated indices would facilitate
phytogeographic studies very much, not only at home, but also abroad, not only locally
but also universally!
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
