Learmonth 12. 4. 1886.
To The Right Honourable Baron Von Müller, C.M.G., M. & Ph.D., F.R.S.,
Melbourne.
My Lord,
I have the honour to request that you will favor me by stating the name of the enclosed
plant, botanical and common, it being a sample of a large amount found growing on
some roads (frequently traversed by travelling sheep) within the Shire of Ballarat.
In my opinion the seed has been conveyed into the shire by above mentioned sheep.
It grows into a bush about 18 inches in hight and diameter, blumes in March and April,
ripenes in Spring, becoming quite dry and forming into a spherical shape, and in Summer
blows along the roads, spreading its seeds.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
your Lordship's most obedient servant
Henry Bregenzer
