The honorable Alfred Deakin,
Chief Secretary &c
Sir,
In continuation of a former sending
1
See M to G. Berry, 24 June 1885 (in this edition as 85-06-24a).
I have the honor of transmitting herewith a collection of Eucalyptus-seeds for the Governor of Gambia, and beg that such may be forwarded to his Excellency Capt. Alfred Moloney, C.M.G. The present sending comprises eleven species not forwarded before, and will therefore enable his Excellency to extend his highly laudable experiments for introducing the Eucalyptus-trees into Gambia more particularly for sanitary purposes. I shall endeavour to procure additional kinds of these seeds, so that the trial-cultures of the Eucalypts may still more extensively be carried on in British Western Africa.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller.
