Melbourne,
19 febr 1886
The honorable the Chief Secretary.
Sir.
I have the honor to solicit, that I may be supplied with fifty copies of the 7th part of my work on Papuan plants,

that part having just been printed by Mr Ferres in his Department. As it consists of only 14 pages, it seems hardly to come under the rule of "presentation", the 50 impressions, now solicited being intended for correspondents interested in that work.

Deakin approved M's request on 22 February 1886. M was informed of this decision on the same day and he replied the next day 'with best thanks'. The Government Printer, J. Ferres, was sent the information on 23 February, and on the 27th he replied that M's request had been 'Complied with'.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller.
