10 November 1885.
Could you have seeds of the local eucalypts there collected for me soon, dear Mr Holtze, to the value of £4 (four pounds sterling), and I would then send you a postal note for that amount. A few fruit capsules, leaves, and buds or flowers should be included with the seeds if they are obtainable, so there can be no doubt about the names.
I have remonstrated with Mr Krichauff, that it is foolish to reduce the money for your Gardens to such an extent.

Letter not found. The NT budget was debated in the SA Parliament in December. See Adelaide observer, 5 December 1885, p. 37: 'The Botanic Garden also showed a decrease, because it was decided to give up the present garden, which was not on proper soil, and to sell the land in suburban allotments'.
Yours
Ferd. von Mueller.
