Dear Baron
I have to thank you for your two letters of [18]th July and [8]th August.
which I recd this week on my return from my summers [work] in the [north]. The seeds
of [...] and the copy of your Census of Australian plants
were also recd with thanks. We have not seen the Detroit edition to which you refer.
Where can it be had? The seed I am giving over to one [...] gardeners who [I am sure
will] take an interest in growing them [...]
I will let you know the result. Macoun is at work [at] Part II of his catalogue
& I hope it will be printed during the winter. We will be glad to give you the [notes]
you ask for in reference to industrial and [...] of Canadian plants. I hope to [embody]
the information in a descriptive catalogue to accompany the exhibit we are now preparing
for the London Colonial Exhibition next year. As regards exchanges I may say that
at present owing to lack of space, our collections [...] [...] foreign countries except
in Conchology & if you could send us any Australian shells we would send you specimens
of any Canadian plants [...] [...] [...]. Our herbm contains many duplicates & includes
almost every known species from British Colombia to Cape Breton. I never hear from
or of McCoy
[...] Give him my kind regards when you see him as also to Newbery
& any other of my old friends in Victoria.
