Document is a circular (p. 290) to the heads of 15 departments (listed p. 289) within
the Chief Secretary’s Department, the addressee being inserted in each case as appropriate.
Melbourne 7th Oct 1885.
Sir,
I have the honor to request that you will be so good as to forward to this office,
as soon as possible an Estimate (additional for 1885/6) showing the sums required
to pay officers, whose classification has been raised by the Public Service Board,
the increased salary corresponding to the class to which they have been promoted,
from 1st February to 30th June 1885.
I have also to request that a similar Estimate may be furnished as regards those officers
who, previously unclassified, have been appointed to a class, the minimum salary of
which is greater than that of which they were previously in receipt.
I beg to add that should no further sum be required for the purposes specified you
will be good enough nevertheless to furnish a "Nil" Estimate.
