Last evening, dear Sir Joseph, I had the pleasure to meet your clever young son.

I introduced him myself this day to Dr Mein, a medical Gentleman of great wealth and influence and of generous disposition, who may be able to push him here in professional work; but my own impression is that he will do better in N.S. Wales, where Mr Wilkinson,

urging to give the young Gentleman at once some Gov. work, which - since in Victoria the Civil Service Board was created - is far more difficult. It was quite charming to me, to hear your son speak such excellent German.
