H. Moors Esqr
Acting Under Secretary
Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your yesterday's letter,
and in reply beg of you, to be so kind to convey to the honorable Graham Berry, the
Chief Secretary and the Public Service Board my grateful recognition of their kindness
in allowing me to continue in my Departmental position, so that I may be able under
the best advantages to continue my rural and phytologic researches for Australia.
Please, inform my honorable Chief and the Public Service Commissioners, that I shall
endeavour to merit the confidence placed in me thus for the worthy continuance of
my departmental labours; and altho' I cannot expect, that divine providence will spare
me for many years of further life, I hope to prove useful for some little time longer,
and thus may be able to seek the favor, now granted, again next year.
