Letter not found. The text given here is from 'New Australian plants', South Australian register, 18 September 1885, p. 5 (B85.09.03). The extract is introduced by the following remarks: 'A few weeks ago, when Mr. Cornish, of the Survey Department, returned from his trip into the far interior of the colony, he sent to Baron von Mueller, of Melbourne, a number of curious plants obtained in Central Australia. He has received in reply a courteous letter of acknowledgment, in which the learned botanist says:—'.
These plants are peculiarly interesting for the record of the locality which accompanies them. A new saltbush I named in honour of yourself .
