MS is a wet-press copy of a telegram. The New Guinea expedition steam-launch Bonito, towed by the steamer Egmont, left Sydney on 10 June, after the launch was inspected by Edward Strickland and several members of the Council of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia and 'some farewell speeches were indulged in' (Sydney morning herald, 11 June 1885, p. 4). The sequence of copies in the letter book indicates that this telegram was sent the following day.
