Ich lese Ihre Notizen immer mit grossen Interesse im F. & G. Ihre Sprache ist sehr
schön, u. es treten auch immer Original-Ideen hervor, oft von grossem practischen
Werth. Ich werde demnächst über cosmopolit. Naturalisation von Pfl. eine Abhandlung
liefern. Eine neue erweiterte Ausgabe der "Select plants" geht nächster Monat zur
Presse, um für die London Colonial Austellung fertig zu sein.
Für das Supplement des Census von 1885 ist auch schon manches notirt, aber es
gebricht
recht sehr an Sammlungen aus
vielen
Gegenden
Central
Australiens, von woher wir noch sehr viel zu lernen haben über die geogr. Verbreitung
der Arten.
Auch bei Eucla sollte tüchtig gesammelt werden, da sich dort die S. u. die Westl.
Vegetation begegnen. Sie können wohl aus Ihrem Museum u Ihrer Häuslichkeit nicht fortkommen;
sonst würden in einem Monat am besten im October
Grosses
für Pflanzen u Insekten-Kunde da zu erreichen sein, u Gelegenheit dahin ist doch
wohl nun zu Schiff oft genug. Würden die Trustees
Sie
nicht bei Eucla einige Wochen diesen Frühling sammeln lassen, um neue Tausch-Materialien
zu erwerben. Wird die Museum Directur dort ganz eingehen?

The two plants that you, respected Mr Tepper, so kindly sent me are

I always read your notes in the F. & G.
with great interest. Your language is very good, and also original ideas always emerge,
often of great practical worth. I will soon produce a paper on cosmopolitan naturalisation
of plants.
A new enlarged edition of the Select plants will go to press next month to be ready for the London Colonial exhibition.
Much is also already noted for the supplement of the Census of 1885,
but we very much
want
collections from
many
regions of
Central
Australia, from which we still have very much to learn about the geographical distribution
of the species.
Also near Eucla
should be thoroughly collected, because there the southern and western vegetation
meet. I suppose you cannot get away from your museum and your family life; otherwise
it would be a
great thing
to spend a month there at best in October, for plant and insect studies, and surely there is opportunity to go now often enough by ship. Would not the Trustees
let
you
collect for some weeks this spring near Eucla to acquire new exchange material? Will
the museum director there agree completely?
