Annotated by J. Hooker: [D. O] JDH
Herewith, dear Sir Joseph, I send an Acrostichum from the higher
mountains
of New Guinea, which appears to me new and very distinct; - still it seems better,
that I should submit it to Kew for comparison, where anyhow it will prove of some
value as regards locality. I should like it named A. Gulliveri in honor of Mr Th Gulliver
F L S., Telegraph-Master of Townsville,
who spent over £150 (very partly only recovered money) in obtaining collections of plants and anthropologic articles from the Astrolabe mountain
through Mr Edelfelt.

Acrostichum gulliveri not found in IPNI (accessed 2 May 2020).
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
I have only one more specimen, (fertile), which is somewhat larger than that numbered
[1]05.
Veins anastomosing. Mr Edelfelts collections (entre nous) are excessively poor and
gathered without any real knowledge and discrimination
