Mit heutigen Post bin ich wieder so frei gewesen, ein Packet Spezimen zur Bestimmung
abzusenden, wenn Sie so gütig sein wollen, das dieses Mal, wie schon so oft, zu übernehmen.
Die Pflanzen von Kangaroo Island sind mir von Mr. Horswill überbracht werden, der
sie in der Nähe von Cape Willoughby gesammelt hat. Sie werden darunter einen Theil
solcher Pflanzen bemerken, die ich auf m.Tour ohne Blüthen oder Früchte fand.
Ist es Ihnen schon bekannt, dass die Blätter von
Wurtzel schlagen und eine Anzahl junger Pflänzchen produziren, wenn dieselben in
fliessendes Wasser tauchen? Ich bemerkte dieses Ende Januar in Waterfall Gully u.
wiess einiger Spezimen vor in letzter Sitzung unsrer Royal Society.
Bitte, nehmen Sie freundlichst meinen herzlichen Dank entgegen für Ihre Aufmerksamkeit
in Bezug auf die Zusendung Ihre Novitäten u. auch für die letzte Namenliste. Es ist
aus Ihren erneuten Thätigkeiten zu schliessen, dass sich Ihre Gesundheit gebessert
hat, u. hoffe ich, dass sie Ihnen recht lange erhalten bleiben möchte. — Welcher Spezies
ist der hiesige Paper bark Teatree zuzuweisen?

I have taken the liberty again to send off a packet of specimens with today’s post
for determination, if you will be so kind as to undertake it this time as so often
before. The plants from Kangaroo Island
have been brought over to me by Mr Horswill, who has collected them in the neighbourhood
of Cape Willoughby. You will notice among them a part of such plants as I found on
my tour without flowers or fruits.
Is it already known to you that the leaves of
put down roots and produce a number of young plants if they are immersed in flowing
water? I noticed this at the end of January in Waterfall Gully
and showed some specimens at the last meeting of our Royal Society.
Please kindly accept my heartfelt thanks for your attention in regard to the sending
of your new publications and also for the last list of names.
It is to be concluded from your renewed activity that your health has improved and
I hope that it may be maintained for a long time. To what species of
is the local Paperbark Teatree assigned?
