H. 6.April 1885 | in 2 Blechbüchsen enthalten | 255 Arten in 274 Stücken | in sehr gutem Zustand angekommen und unter den 68 gut bestimmten | Arten waren 42 neue für das Kabinet vorhanden' [from Baron von Mueller Coleopterae from New Holland 6 April 1885 in 2 tin boxes containing 255 species in 274 specimens arrived in very good condition and among the 68 well determined species 42 new for the Cabinet were present].

Mit heutiger Post sende ich Ihnen, edler Freund, zwei Blechbüchsen voll benannter Käfer aus Abtheilungen, welche in meiner letzten Sendung noch nicht repräsentiert waren. Hoffentlich sind Ihnen diese Dingerchen annehmbar, zumal da schon viele benannt sind. Sicherlich finden sich noch manche neue Arten darunter, deren eine oder andere ich gern nach Mr. Charles French genannt haben möchte, da er hier sammelt, und mir beim Zusammenbringen (durch Kauf) dieser Insekten besonders behülflich war.
Hoffentlich werde ich Ihnen auch bald wieder neue Beiträge zu Ihren Vertebraten senden können.

With today's post I am sending you, noble Friend, two tin boxes full of named beetles from sections that were not yet represented in my last consignment. It is to be hoped these little creatures are acceptable to you, especially since many are already named. No doubt many new species will be found among them, of which I should like to have one or the other named after Mr Charles French because he collects here and was particularly helpful to me with the bringing together (by purchase) of these insects.

Charles French Snr. No evidence has been found that any insect was named for French from specimens sent to Stuttgart.
It is to be hoped I'll also soon be able to send you new contributions to your vertebrates again.
