The polynesian Orchid, sent by you, dear Mr Ramsay, I have examined, without having
as yet come to a clear result. Altho' it resembles, as you say,
, it has very different pollen-masses, and belongs therefore to an other tribe. Should
you have still more flowers on it, I should be thankful for them (in an envelope)
also of a pencil-sketch, delineating the habit. I dissected both the flowers, kindly
sent by you.

I took the liberty of forwarding to your address a book for Dr Froude,
as I missed, through severe pulmonary hereditary sufferings, the few opportunities
here of meeting that distinguished man.

See M to E. Ramsay, 9 March 1885.
Let me hope that you are happy and well
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
I shall be very glad, to examine any others of your Polynesian Orchids as they come
into flower.
