Melbourne, 31st January 1885
Sir
I have the honor to inform you that at a meeting of the Trustees of the Royal Park,
held yesterday, a letter was submitted by the hon. manager, received from the Town
Council of Hotham,
urging the removal of the building used as a Girls Receiving House in the Park.
After due deliberation it was resolved "that a copy of the letter be forwarded to
the Government respectfully asking that the opinion of the Honorable the Attorney
General be obtained on the subject, but at the same time the Trustees desire to intimate
that they have no wish to embarrass the Government in any way concerning this matter["].
