On 8 August 1885 the Public Librarian wrote to Thomas asking for a fuller address of W. Trelease, Detroit, because the copy of the 10th Decade that had been sent to him had been returned unclaimed. Minutes on the file show that on 13 August, Thomas asked M to explain the matter, and that M replied on 15 August: 'The present address of Professor William Trelease, Dr—Sc., &c is Madison, Wisconsin'. Thomas referred M's information to the Librarian on 18 August (P85/2459, unit 48, VPRS 1163/P1, Public Record Office, Victoria).
