MS found with a specimen of (MEL 104189). The date is estimated as 1885, since the preface to Bailey (1886) (see note 4 below) is dated 31 December 1885. The work was published by April 1886, when it was reviewed by the Capricornian (Rockhampton, Qld), 17 April 1886, p. 17.
, Sp nov. A pubescent or villous climber, slender but often covering the surrounding bushes to the height of 8 or 10 ft. Leaves opposite 3-foliate, petioles about 3 lines long, lateral pinnae nearly orbicular 4 to 6 lines diameter on petiolules of about 1 line; terminal pinna broadly ovate or nearly orbiculate about 1 or 1 1/2 in. long; and prominently apiculate, veins few impressed above & prominently raised beneath, petiolule about as long as the petiole. Flowers white, solitary often in each axil, pedicels slender about 4 lines long with two minute bracts near the base; calyx about 1 line long with small teeth; corolla-tube cylindrical 3 lines long, with about 6 triangular imbricate lobes.

Some years ago the Rev B. Scortechini gave me a small piece of this Jasmine and at the time we both considered it a new species but the specimen did not admit of fully describing the plant but while at Nerang

the other day I found it covering the bushes so brought specimen home but in my hurry forgot fruit but can get it by sending to a friend in fact the fruit must be small or I should have seen it — As I expect our friend Scortechini sent it to you at the time I now enclose a specimen with also a copy of the description I intend to publish in my Supplement to the Synopsis

Bailey's description was published under a different species name as Jasminum singuliflorum Bail. et F v. M in Bailey (1886), p. 38, with an additional sentence describing the fruit and a note reporting that M considered that the new species approached J. brevilobum.
