Mit dieser Post sende ich Ihnen, edler Freund, zwei Meeres-Federn. Das grössere Exemplar kam von King Georges Sound u. ist das einzige , welches bisher dort gefunden; das kleinere ist von Port Phillip. Es scheinen 2 verschiedene Arten zu sein, die Art nobilis von Port Jackson ist diesen Beiden auch sehr ähnlich. Ich habe die Ex. aus dem Alcohol genommen um solche mit der Post senden zu können. Solche werden sich wohl in Alcohol wieder erweichen lassen. Möchte ich rathen, dass Sie gütig die Vergleiche dieser Species bald vornehmen oder vornehmen lassen, da etwas Neues darunter stecken mag!
Ich habe neulich nach besonderen Wunsch Einige Zoologica nach Lissabon u. nach Oldenburg gesandt, glaube aber nicht, dass etwas darunter war, welches Sie nicht schon hatten. Wenn es leicht möglich wäre, einen Index (einfach Namensliste) drucken zu lassen von Ihren zoologischen Sammlungen aus Australien, so wäre das eine grosse Hülfe um die Collectionen mehr zu vervollständigen.

P.S.: Ich gab dem Herrn Dr. Wilkie, einen langjährigen Arzte u. Senator von Melbourne einen Brief an Sie, da er vielleicht um das hohe musikalische Talent seiner jüngsten Tochter auszubilden in Stuttgart einige Zeit zubringen wird.

With this post I am sending you, noble Friend, two sea feathers. The larger specimen came from King Georges Sound

is also very similar to both these. I have taken the specimens out of the alcohol so as to be able to send them by post. I suppose they will be softened again in alcohol. I would like to advise that you kindly make the comparison of these species soon or have them made, since something new may be hiding among them.
Recently I have sent some zoological things to Lisbon and Oldenburg according to particular desires, but do not think that there was anything among them you did not already have. If it would be easily possible to have an index (simply a list of names) of your zoological collections from Australia printed, it would be of great assistance in further completing your collections.

P.S. I gave Dr Wilkie, a long standing physician and member of parliament of Melbourne, a letter to you, since he will perhaps spend some time in Stuttgart to develop the high musical talent of his youngest daughter.
