Sir,
I have the honor to transmit herewith the great Gold medal, given by his Excellency
the Minister of the Imperial Domains as an award to the St. Petersburg horticultural
Exhibition, and which by the Jurors was unanimously bestowed on the Giant Todea-fern
sent by my Department and in the interest of the resources of our Colony to that Exhibition.

Unless you desire to dispose of it otherwise, I would beg leave to suggest, that the
medal be placed into the art-division of the Museum at the public Library.

Berry noted 'Approved GB' on 5 November 1884. The medal was sent to the Public Library
and deposited in the Museum Art Collection (acknowledgement, R. Curtis to T. Wilson,
13 November 1884; see B84/10411, unit 69, VPRS 3992/P inward registered correspondence,
VA 475 Chief Secretary's Department, Public Record Office, Victoria). M was sent Curtis’s
letter for information and returned it 'with best thanks'.
