MS found with a specimen of Codonocarpus cotinifolius (MEL 589672), accompanied by specimen label in M's hand, 'Codonocarpus 100 miles east of York 1884 | R. B. Leake'. MS appears to have been addressed to one of M's assistants but intended for him.

Dear Sir,

I have never lost sight of your request to send you a specimen of any rare shrub, and have tried to interest my neighbours in the same matter; yesterday [...] neighbour's son brought me the specimen I enclose, it is not what Baron von Mueller specially wrote about, but it is very rare in this part and may be of interest to him. Should he require a larger quantity of the shrub I shall be glad to get it and send it to him
