Document is a copy of a circular sent to heads of 15 branches of the Chief Secretary's
Office, with spaces where the names of specific branches and the officers in charge
of them were to be inserted. An accompanying list shows that No. 1679 was addressed
to ‘The Government Botanist’.

Memo.
The enclosed proof of the portion relating to the Government Botanist's Department
of the return required by Section 20 of the Public Service Act 1883
to be published in the Government Gazette is forwarded to Baron von Mueller with
the request that he will indicate thereon any alterations or corrections in the statement
of duties he may consider necessary

It is also particularly requested that the date of first appointment, and number of
years service, of each of the officers may be carefully checked, and that the return
may be sent back to me with the least possible delay for re-transmission to the Public
Service Board.
