Dear Sir
Your very kind note
to hand and I forward by post the first small consignment of New England ferns. I
shall be happy to forward from time to time any specimens which I may think will interest
you — I am preparing monograms of the New England Ferns. — I can manage the Drawings
but find discriptions very difficult. I do not know the proper plan or method to adopt
in discribing. It has struck me that the possition of the Spore Cases should be a
good guide in identifying the various Species of Fern — Is there any Botanical work
in which special attention is given to the "Filices" and if so could you give title
of same. Perhaps I am doing work which has been already done Have any Monograms of
the Australian Ferns been yet published? —
