With reference to the Circular of the 2nd inst. from the Premier's Office, a copy
of which has been forwarded to you,
requiring the preparation of certain returns under Section 20 of the Public Service
Act 1883, I am directed to inform you that the Public Service Board have called for
the undermentioned additional information, and to require that it may be prepared
and forwarded to this office with the principal returns, with the least possible delay.

M’s reply dated 8 February 1884, reporting the ages and salaries of the officers in
his department, was registered at the Chief Secretary’s Office on 9 February (B84/1411,
VPRS 1168, Public Record Office, Victoria) but has not been found.
