7/12/83.
I feel honored, dear Prof. Tate, by your kindly attaching my name to the new from Kangaroo Island.
1
SA. Evidently collected in late November or early December1883 (see specimens K873417, AD97423315, MEL 60739) Muelleri was described in Tate (1885), pp. 70-1, reported as read 7 October 1884. The protologue, however, does not include Kangaroo Island as a locality, nor is it listed as occurring on Kangaroo Island in Tate's Census (Tate (1889a), p. 124).
My cough has hardly abated, so I shall probably try, what effect a stay on the seacoast will have upon it.
2
At Drysdale, Vic; see M to G. Berry, 7 December 1883.
My stay in Melbourne will under these circumstances be very short, and as my illness is serious, I could not venture to enter critically on the Schoenum-species.
3
In M to R. Tate, 29 November 1883, M pointed out that careful comparisons were needed of the species.
There will be many additions to the Kang. Isl.
4
Kangaroo Island, SA.
Flora yet, and under these circumstances, I would advise to let the Schoenums stand over for supplements.
5
Tate (1883) does contain reference to spp. in accounts of the vegetation and the list of species from Kangaroo Island (p. 169) includes five species, one being given as genus only.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
